Religion in Building Civil Society

Civil society can be defined as a civilized society in building, living and interpreting life. The main basis of civil society is unity based on life guidelines, avoiding conflict and hostility that causes division of life (Komaruddin Hidayat and Azyumari Azra: 2006). In the formation of civil society, religion has a role, namely the concept of harmony and tolerance derived from the holy book of each religion.
This is the basis of research conducted by Dr. Dian Nur Anna, M.A, on the role of religion in the formation of civil society in Indonesia in the post-truth era. In an event organized by the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Islamic Thought, namely the 3rd Ushuluddin International Conference (USICON) on October 16-17, 2019, she presented the results of the research. "Religion is important and fundamental in building civil society on its basic values such as tolerance and harmony," said Dr. Dian Nur Anna, M.A. On the basis of the values of religion, it will also form a good civil society.
