Documentary Filmmaking Workshop for Students of Religious Studies

Wednesday, September 28, 2022, Religious Studies students received training in documentary filmmaking. This activity is a series of Community Development, in which students will produce audio-visual documentation of their activities.

Located in the Theatrical Faculty of Ushuluddin and Islamic Thought, this activity was quite solemn.

Vedy Santoso S.Kom.I, M.Sn, as a speaker from Kancing Baju Pictures, provided clear material and direction on how the theme of spirituality in religion can be displayed on the screen.

At least, before discussing technical matters in documentary film production, there are three important things that must be understood. First, how the idea will be conveyed to the audience. This is important because it is a reference to how the concept of the movie will be produced. For that,"look for the needs of the audience on religious issues"said Mas Vedy. Second, develop creativity by stimulating our imagination. Of course, some of this is technical. Thirdly, pay attention to how the storyteller (film producer) works towards the audience through images, sound, point of view, and other things that will be represented.

Dr. Dian Nur Anna, S.Ag, MA, as the Head of the Department said in her speech that"we hope that this activity will provide knowledge and skills in the field of videography for students of religious studies".

In the session before closing, Mas Vedy gave advice to students about techniques, methods and approaches to researching raw materials for filmmaking.
