Description | As the fourth major religion in the world, Buddhism has a distinctive character, namely the principle of ehi passiko, but there are also universal characteristics regarding doctrine, practice and institutions. This religion is spread throughout almost all of Asia and in the Western world today. The main themes discussed are: Scientific approaches to religions and Buddhism; Indian traditions before the birth of Buddhism, Sakyamuni and Tatagatha; Principles of Buddhist teachings: Tri Ratna, Tri Pitaka Holy Book, Sutra & Literature; Chess Arya Satyani and Hasta Arya Marga; Trilakhana: dukkha, anicca, anatta and Buddhist Cosmology; Karma and Samsara / Reincarnation and Buddhist Anthropology; Pratitya Samutpada and Nibbana; Schools and sects: Theravada, Mahayana, Vajrayana, Chinese and Japanese Buddhism, differences and similarities; Buddhist institutional organizations in Indonesia; Divinity in Theravada and Mahayana Buddhism; Buddhist ethical systems and moral practices; and, Buddhist devotionals, meditation and ceremonies. |
